Tactical Drone Solutions LLC (“TDS”) is a US-based company providing Tier-1 drone services and consulting including Hoverfly tethered drones for persistent aerial surveillance, drone filming, a UAV Test and training site, aerial newsgathering and goTenna Pro mesh network communications systems and services.

As an Authorized Channel Partner for both Hoverfly Technologies and goTenna, we supply, service and support the full range of their platforms and technologies specifically designed to meet the needs of the public safety, police, fire, military, special event and sporting event market segments.

TDS also provides a full range of consulting and subject-matter-expert services to every industry utilizing tethered and non-tethered UAS technologies.


TDS ownership have more than 33 years in aviation business operations for special event, production, film and UAS clients. Areas of expertise include commercial drone film, photo & survey operations, wireless network infrastructure and services, FAA waivers and authorizations, aircraft operations, aviation entertainment services, aerial news-gathering operations, video production and editing, and UAS safety, planning, operation and deployment for small to very large scale events. The company works extensively with FAA partners for operations in controlled airspace. Within their existing business operations, the ownership has myriad authorizations and waivers to conduct UAS operations in controlled airspace, including waivers for UAS operations at night. UAS service clients include Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Ironman Corporation, Hilton Hotels, World Wildlife Fund, Ruckus Wireless, Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, Bayfair San Diego, Go Far Events, USS Midway Museum, National Geographic and many more.

Todd is a lifelong entrepreneur who, for 30 years, has owned and operated several technology, entertainment and aviation companies. Along with website services and digital presence, she coordinates all TDS social media and is the point person for all company Personnel Management, Client accounting and company meeting and travel requirements. She is the special event coordinator for TDS events and manages all vendor relations. She oversees ground operations and is one of several Visual Observers for TDS night UAS operations. For special events and activities, Todd works directly with and caterers, contractors and performers, and manages all audio/video requirements. She is the client services contact, and works directly with TDS clients to post-produce all video content captured during their special event.

Don served 20 years in the Marine Corps, retiring as Gunnery Sergeant.

Nine of the twenty years spent deployed overseas, serving as a criminal investigator, hostage negotiator, firearms instructor and training coordinator. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. For much of his Marine Corps career, Don was a competition skydiver, accumulating over 1,450 skydives. He served as an Accelerated Freefall Jumpmaster training novice skydivers, and as professionally rated demonstration skydiver performing for highly-attended public and private events.

Don provides comprehensive field support for all TDS tethered drone operations that are conducted for client demonstrations and contracted flight operations.

Don Mullenix

TDS leadership have a combined 63 years of business development and operations experience within commercial aviation. They have conducted, organized, managed, sold or performed on nearly 800 aviation events in 32 years.

Ron is a business owner and life-long serial entrepreneur with 33 years of aviation business development & operations, management training & development and senior business leadership. He is a subject-matter-expert in fields in that include Unmanned Aerial Systems, computer network management, wireless internet, live video transmission, long distance wireless bridging, WiFi network design and deployment, tethered aerostats and corporate aviation entertainment. He holds an FAA Part 107 commercial UAS pilot certificate, and both a US Parachute Association (USPA) Master Parachutist license and a Professional Demonstration Skydiver rating. He serves as a USPA-designated Safety and Training Advisor, and as a subject-matter-expert for skydiving and UAS operations for the local FAA. He is a member to the San Diego Airport Advisory Committee.

Ron Leer

Ken is a 28 year Navy veteran, retiring with the rank of Captain. He has an ATP rating, served as Flight Instructor and has over 4,700 flight hours in helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. Ken has held the following positions as a senior Naval officer:
– Commanding Officer of one of Navy’s largest helicopter squadrons.
– Director of Navy Command Leadership School.
– Executive Officer of Naval Air Station, Sigonella, Sicily. He holds an FAA Part-107 Certificate for commercial drone operations, and has been conducting commercial drone operations for more than three years.

Ken serves as System Pilot and provides comprehensive field support for all TDS tethered drone operations that are conducted for client demonstrations and contracted flight operations.
